The Asparagus Fern is native to South Africa. It was introduced to other parts of the world as an ornamental plant due to its attractive, feathery foliage.

The plant gained popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries when interest in houseplants and ornamental gardening surged.

Its adaptability and decorative appeal contributed to its widespread use in both indoor and outdoor settings.
