Key information

The Calathea Aubergine is a striking member of the Prayer Plant family. Also known as Calathea Medallion, the distinctive large oval leaves are adorned with various shades of green in a pretty pattern on the upper side of the leaf and an unusual aubergine purple on the underside. The large elliptical leaves are reminiscent of peacock feathers.

The Calathea Aubergine is perfect for those looking for an air-purifying plant that doesn’t need to be in bright sunlight.

Indoor plants help bring personality, break up spaces and introduce new textures and tones.

At Soto we want to make looking after your plants as easy and enjoyable as possible. The Calathea Aubergine plant profile will help you get to know your new plant.

The Calathea, or Prayer Plant, is a popular plant due to the stunning leaf pattern and movement. Native to the rainforests of South America, this plant thrives in dappled sunlight.

The leaves of this plant have a beautiful mix of green tones on top and aubergine underneath. It exhibits nyctinasty, a phenomenon where the leaves open and close in response to light changes.

For longevity, we recommend maintaining a temperature range of 18-24°C and a humid environment. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. We suggest using a small watering can and testing the soil once a week.

Trim yellow or damaged leaves and regular pruning helps maintain the plant's shape.
