Key information
The Autumn Fern, also known as the Dryopteris erythrosora or Japanese Shield Fern is a pretty and low maintenance fern. Each spring, new fronds have a hint of pink which transitions into a copper and then bright green as the season develops. This fern works well as a ground cover in shaded garden areas or in pots on patios. Soto love this plant for its seasonal interest. It is a deciduous to semi-evergreen, meaning it loses its leaves each Autumn.

Top Tip
Plant the base of the crown at the level of the soil surface, before mulching. If it is planted too high, watering can erode the soil around the rhizomes and roots and stress the plant.
