Key information
The Niwaki Camellia Oil is the Japanese solution for keeping your tools clean and rust free. Oil from the seeds of Camellia oleifera (same family as Camellia and tea) is the traditional Japanese choice for protecting tools from rust: use it when cleaning, and as a regular protective coating. Camellia leaves a lovely, deep, non-oily finish and it’s odourless and tasteless (handy for kitchen knives, but don’t try drinking it!)

Quick tip
For optimal performance, you should clean your secateurs after every use; this means wiping them down with a damp cloth and applying a light oil to the blades to prevent rust, especially if you're pruning plants with high sap content.

How to use Camellia Oil
It is important to keep your tools clean for optimal performance. Follow these easy steps to ensure the longevity of your tools.
- Before putting your tools away for next time, make sure to remove any existing leaf resin, rust and gunk.
- Simply add a little water or use the Camellia Oil and rub away the rust and sap before you sharpen.
- Keep a cloth handy to wipe off the resulting muck, then protect your newly cleaned blades with a little Camellia Oil using a dry cloth, making sure to store in a dry place.
