Key information

Osmanthus burkwoodii brings quiet elegance and structure to the garden all year round. Its small, glossy, deep green leaves create a fine, polished texture, and in spring the plant is covered in clusters of delicate white flowers with a sweet, jasmine like scent that drifts beautifully on a warm day, much loved by bees. It clips neatly into soft domes, low hedges and simple shapes, making it a graceful evergreen choice for borders, front gardens and courtyards, and a lovely alternative to box.

Top Tip

Trim Osmanthus burkwoodii straight after it finishes flowering in late spring. Next year's flowers form on this season's growth, so clipping later in the year means fewer blooms the following spring.
