In the Garden With…Miranda Hayman

What makes an outside space feel like an extension of your home? This is unique to each individual and something we considered in the first of our ‘in the garden with’ interview series where we speak to garden lovers, businesspeople, and home makers.
We are launching this series by chatting to Miranda Hayman, co-owner of Hayman’s Gin at the London distillery in Balham. When talking her through our Herb Kitchen, Jamie discovered that Hayman’s Exotic Citrus Gin is very refreshing on a summer afternoon!

What makes your outside space feel like home?

There’s nothing I love more than my garden chair with a good book and a long and refreshing G&T – a perfect sundowner in the comfort of my own home.  Greenery is extremely calming – so the perfect anecdote to the fast-paced workday!

Where is your favourite garden?

My parents’ garden is my favourite place to relax.  It’s where my brother James and I grew up so is full of brilliant memories.  And now it’s where we all get together for long lazy family lunches.  I also love Battersea Park as place to meet friends – a great mix of urban and country vibe!

How do you entertain in your garden?

We often invite friends (and their kids) for weekend BBQs – it’s the easiest and most fun way for two generations to catch up, over a few G&Ts of course!

What is your favourite cocktail?

At the moment, I think my favourite has to be a Citrus Sour, made with our Exotic Citrus Gin.  Velvety and smooth with that refreshing citrus tang. Delicious!

Why not enjoy a brilliantly zesty Hayman's Exotic Citrus and Rosemary Sour:
  • 50ml Hayman’s Exotic Citrus
  • 25ml lemon juice
  • 20ml apricot syrup
  • Add foaming bitters and shake the cocktail with ice. Double strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig.
